Another X during X-Mas

Image
Mayta's accessories wish list for the holidays and New Year 2009 features some goods YOU wish you had placed on Santa's list! Demon's Clover Stomps are so golden, they'll keep you lucky on the slopes. The inside scoop for the East Coast is that if you're gonna rock stomps, they better be hot. So I keep misplacing my phone, my wallet, my keys... and I have purses! But they are so voluminous that I somehow always end up digging in to eventually find what I was looking for. I need to simplify things with class! Nixon's Lulu Clutch is the ladies' choice! Available in blue ( below ), red, white, or black. Gooring Brothers' Flashdance cable knit fingerless arm-warmers are ideal for women like me: my hands are always cold during winter months! These yummilicious arm-warmers are available in Black, Cream or Grey ( shown below) . Stussy's Stitches Vinyl Pin features artwork by

Authentic Sports Originals

Pro-Keds was established in 1949 as the athletic brother of Keds. The footwear line was then primarily geared towards basketball. Their first product was the classic Royal. The kick was a canvas basketball shoe in high and low tops and featured the distinctive red and blue power stripe towards the front/toe of the sneaker. As old time favorites make a come back, Pro-Keds has reintroduced the Royal Hi Canvas . Here it is for women, in white/yellow gradient. It is the women's version of the iconic Pro-Ked Royal. The Royal for women is available in Hi (as above), Low and Aristocrat. Check them out to see the entire range of models and colors! ~Mayta

Le Sportsac x Bfree

Image
As we ladies know, bags are a must have accessory and I {HEART} Le Sportsac . Their website is so fun by the way!! I particularly love their intro of " Artist In Residence " collection. It's the result of a collaboration between Le Sportsac and Merijn Hos who is also known under his alias Bfree. At first sight, t he main characteristics in Bfree's work are his funky looking characters. Long legs, high-heel shoes, wild hair and (like moi) freckles! But as his biography details state: "when it comes to content, you will find a lot of elements such as ghosts, life and death, friendly and cute expressions, hidden messages. A lot of the work reflects on issues in todays society and everyday interaction between people in terms of escapism, organised confusion and friendship and loyalty." For this feature, I want to focus on the 3 Day Weekender . That's because I am one of those unlucky weekend warriors who ends up fighting the crowds on the slopes, the l

Fashion Week in the Rockies

Image
Beautiful Aspen is introducing its very own Fashion Week . Call it a destination fashion event! Designed to feed the soul of the most stylish winter fashion consumers, this event will feature informal presentations, après showings, on-mountain events and late night fashionable soirées. As they claim it, "2009 will launch the hottest fashion event to hit the Rockies." Aspen's Fashion Week will kick-off with the official welcome party on Sunday, March 1st, 2009 and end with the closing party on March 5th. All events are scheduled to start off during après-ski hours. So get your fur on and your trendiest boots ! Sponsors include W Magazine (hottest fashion magazine) and Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin (my favorite champagne). ~Mayta Photography: Aspen Valley At Night From Red Mountain. X is for Cess not Mas... X-Cess Baby

Image
You always gotta push it that tid bit further to be the queen of the bling. So here's a sweet wish list from miss Heidi: The rock star of watches, Nixon brings class act on time for the holidays: The Nixon Chalet Watch requires that you wear anything but a long sleeve shirt. I want it in Bamboo, of course. Next on my list, the excess of them all, I present the Kicker Fucker Chicken's super duper bling Madonna Ring ! Hey, small details matter... Ok, it's not really #2 on my wish list, but i thought it was funny: the ring is actually worn OVER your gloves! So if that's not X-Cess... what is?! Luv it. Next... let's get serious here. I want Gravis. Graaavviissss. The Gemini HC in either 80s print: Or Gemini HC in solid gold, baby! Not sure if it's the premium leather or the new PU Cloud 9 footbed... But with these, I will be in heaven. I think it's the mesh lined pockets... Naaaah!! Again, wild prints--gotta love them. Burton's Alana Duffel Bag in

Wanted: Futura for the ladies

Image
Graffiti pioneer, Futura , continues his collaboration project with Burton . From first layers to outerwear, the latest release is the much awaited Vapor snowboard featuring a clean top sheet and Futura's colorful design on the bottom sheet. Sick custom signature! As noted in Trenwatching.com 's OFF=ON report, Spanish-born designer, Cristian Zuzunaga, believes the pixel is the icon of our time. Futura seems to have the same art sense when designing Burton 's frist layer Sublimation Pant in Pixel Waterfall ( here below ). I want these for women... So, now the question is, when are they going to transfer these fun prints to women's soft and hard goods? I want Futura! ~Mayta Source: hypebeast , highsnobiety

Earthy Look

Image
From our visit to Mountain Riders shop in Stratton, VT, we brought you back the best from their bindings wall. Here featured is Rome's Strut Binding . We love the details on this piece! The cork looking pattern on the high back and straps and the soft green wool-like material featured here and there (as I am pointing at it) give the Rome Strut in Tan a fun earthy feel to the look of this binding. A nice contrast to the wild patterns and electric fluo colors we have been featuring in recent posts. From a tech perspective, the Strut delivers large dose of performance-enhancing features and comfort. Designed for women, the highback is anatomically contoured and offers calf relief on the medial side. Yes! Mode Snow spots stylish goods, but only features what worth putting on your x-mas wish list: quality, and style. ~Mayta

Natural Beauty

Image
Lorene & Heidi from Powder Room take on the task of testing out some of this season's offering in boards. From flex, to stability and pop, the ratings placed the Arbor Eden, Atomic Fallen Angel, and Ride Promise amongst their top three. Mode Snow's eyes are in love with Arbor's Eden ! Designed for park and all-mountain riding, this board is like a Porsche. Sexy, and fast. Lorene & Heidi tested this hotty; check out what they have to say in respect to its performance on the mountain. The board's progressive shape and soft flex are perfect for lapping the park, popping boxes, jibbing naturals, exploring the trees and freeriding groomers. As Lorene points out, it is sure to surprise you! The Arbor Eden combines performance, beauty and eco-consciousness. The woods chosen to built it are sustainable and renewable resources. Even better, they are lightweight, durable, and provide the response and pop you would want from your board if ready to charge the mountain. W

RIDE x TOKIDOKI

Image
Ride Snowboards likes to push the boundaries of tech with their constant binding and board innovation: slimewalls, canted footbed bindings, 1 strap bindings and more. This year, they decided to up the ante by doing artist collaborations. The women got the best end of this deal with a head to toe setup by Japanese cult brand Tokidoki . With graphics inspired by robots and anime, and tech at the highest level in the industry, they are items worth getting and keeping in your collection. The Canvas board is designed to be a Society for the ladies. It's got Ride's patented Slimewalls to dampen the feel, carbon stringers, and the new "Pop Stix" to bounce you off kickers. It's a fantastic all-mountain ride. The Scarlet Boot is new for this year with boa lacing, heat moldable liners, and furry lining for a plush, comfy feel. The Zeta binding is the highest-end women's binding from Ride. It's light as a feather, super damp, and the comfy straps are like none you

Wild Bindings

Image
When paying a visit to Stratton's Mountain Riders shop (Vermont), we spent the time these bindings deserved checking them out. Burton's Escapades, my all time favs, look SO HOT this year! I am all about animal prints, and these seem to always be IN. So here is my pick: Burton Escapade in Teal Zebra . Burton Escapade in Teal Zebra . It is not just about a face lift, it's about continuous improvement. The Burton Escapade is the ultimate women's binding. It has been so since the introduction of canted hi-backs, which are designed for the comfort of women's calves. The gel heel cushioning adds extra comfort to Burton's Women’s-Specific True Fit™ Design. Light-weight thanks to its 50:50 Carbon Fiber/Nylon Composite; and stay locked in thanks to the toe, or cap, strap--one of the best inventions since the intro of hi-backs. The Escapades are also available in White/Gold (bling bling!) and Matte Black. Now, for "The Look" let's pair it up with some boot

As mentioned in previous posts, Mode Snow brings you the goods from "Featured Shops." Know of a shop we should rave bout? Drop a line! Mountain Riders has two locations in Vermont. We paid a visit to Stratton's shop. A rail jam session was taking place on the front lot and a DJ kept the beat going. As you enter the store, you are immediately drawn to the wall of bindings. We will feature some of the hottest set ups in "The Look" posts where we provide you combos on how to rock featured items. Stay dry in the powow

Image
Suzanne "JZ" Larson, the greatest women's outerwear model of our time, is modeling the '08 B by Burton Beecher Suit in style--previously seen only on the posh ski slopes of Aspen, St. Moritz and Chamonix. B by Burton has given shred chicks the opportunity to strut and lodge pimp, and this girl can work those curves with a supermodel strut. Aspiring to become a MILF or Cougar is encouraged, but fur accessories are not required. Available in black ( as Suzanne rocks it above ), white and olive ( as shown here on the right ), Burton's Beecher suit features Storm-lite 3.0 fabric (10000mm, 10000G) that will handle the toughest weather. ~Heidi

Evolution towards perfection

Image
For the '07 season Burton introduced the Ride suit and it was an excellent first try. Minor issues such as super narrow sleeve openings and pockets too small to be useful were fixed by '08 when Burton rolled out the Beecher snow suit. However, gone was the long sleek cut and in its place a was a new 'choke me when I sit down' fit. Great for those into asphyxiation, not great for falling in pow. With B By Burton's '09 United One Piece , they have united all the good bits of each suit and nixed all the bad. Fit is dialed, the functionality is spot on and they've even thrown in some upgrades. The United suit has a convenient retractable pass pocket on the sleeve, suspenders so you can unzip and hike jacket down, and bombproof 20k/20k material to keep you warm any dry under any conditions. Available in bright white (not for chicks who ride hard or go through that muddy parking lot), marigold (you won't get out of anyone's sight on a snowy blizzard

Mountain Riders Shop ~ DC Zephyr Pants

Image
Mode Snow's features include shopping sessions at "featured shops" where we try the goods on for you. For our first "featured shop" post, we made a visit to Stratton's Mountain Riders Shop in Vermont, USA. Wild prints are the flavor of the season as well as fluo colors. Based on this trend, our eyes immediately landed on DC's Zephyr pants in Raspberry Plaid . What can I say, the baggy cut, suspenders, loud colors and plaid prints were just the combo we needed to call it a hot topic! The mega flare of these pants can be reduced by zipping up the bottom of the pants. I love this feature when off the slopes; it prevents dragging your pants in the mud and from ripping them apart. But when on the snow, the extra flare is what it's all about. Even sweeter, DC included their "shant control" feature. Basically, you can pull on a cord located in your pocket to pull up and keep up the bottom back part of your pants! So no more dreading the muddy pa

Analog K14 ~ On Snow Spotting

Image
Woohoo! As the season nears for Northern Hemisphere resorts... we'll have on the spot trend spotting reports! Hey, YOU just might be our next star! Here is Suzanne Larson, Berkeley student and Tahoe local rocking the darn hot AG K14 --is it me or it sounds like a deadly weapon!??! Heck yeah, just check out how fun she looks in the suit! She's definitely going to stand out from the crowd... Thanks for the pose lady! Good to know that the AG K-14 guarantees you to be dry, when there is no way for the outer elements to get down your pants. Yup, Analog stopped making women specific outerwear like 2 or 3 years ago... but who says we chicks can't make this outerwear--and particularly one piece suits--look this hot?! The K-14 also features fleece lined hand warmer pockets, internal goggle and sound pocket with headphone port and mesh lined pit zips and interior thigh vents. This is the 100% guarantee for raddest and most flavorful kicker shredder on the mountain. ~Heidi

Spy these!

Image
There are those of us who know how cyclical fashion is... well, this time the 80's are making an even stronger and wilder come back than the 07/08 season... Hot fluo colors are the flavor of these ZED goggles from SPY Optics. Pink and lime green featured on the Pop Rocks ( shown above ) are sure to make heads turn. Careful though, they'll probably pay more attention to your goggles than what you're talking about!! Do you rock the rapper steez on the slopes? Well they made the matching goggles. Shown above , the Zed Yo! 80's Rap goggles feature basic colors, but funky patterns. Love the Spy label on this one! These are sizzling hot. The Zed Blue Voltage ( above ) also features fluo colors in an exotic--and electric--pattern. I chose these Zed models with the Rose lens with Silver Mirror , which is for mostly sunny weather. The cool part is that your Zed goggles will come with an additional lens bringing more functionality to your accessory. The Zed goggle will fit w

Warmth + Style = ONE... Piece!

Image
How many times have you been out riding and gotten up from a tumble only to shake snow out of your jacket, dig it out of your pants, and flick it from under your belt? It’s a story as old as time. We got snow gaiters on our jackets, and those helped, until you really went flying! Still, though, some of us always wished those one piece ski outfits would come back in style. The fashion gurus at Burton, L1TA, Roxy, DC, and Analog finally listened to our pleas, and decreed that the one piece was IN again! This year, I have my heart absolutely set on the Burton Veil suit in Lime Zebra ( shown on the left ). It’s the loudest, most out-there thing I could ever hope to ride in, and I love it! The fit is a bit shorter this year, so if you are a short girl, you’ll be in heaven. If you’re tall, order a size up for maximum flair. For a really baggy fit, L1TA one piece suits are well-suited for girls who like a lot of room to move around! Here's the L1TA Don't Cry full suit in leaf camo (

Your Apres-Ski Must Have

Step into these for your appearances at apres-ski parties. Ugg has won the hearts of many women's feet. The brand's Classic model is making a come back this season and brings fun options for your feet. Here is a small selection to give you a taste of the goods. Classic Tall Patent Pasley is avaible on Ugg's website in black ( shown above ), chocolate and sand. The subtle pasley print adds a chic look to the boot. If you love camo, and are a style confident fashionista, then the wilder and more flaunty print on the Classic Short Camo Boot is for you. Available in blue camo ( shown above ), green camo and brown camo. This one here is quite sweet and picks up on the love of shiny things. Silver and gold colors are a popular theme in shoes, purses and clothing. Ugg could not miss out on this trend.
