Another Collab!! Tommy Hilfiger x Keith Haring

Image
Gosh, I am totally loving these collabs between preppy brands and brilliant artists!! One of my favs, Keith Haring--who has been part of the street art movement since the early days of graffiti and making art "public and accessible," for all to enjoy by using the streets as galleries--has teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger to launch a limited edition footwear capsule collection. The result is a small collection named Footwear in limited edition, composed of sneakers and rain boots for men, women and kids, in a worldwide preview at colette. Sick pic of Haring working on the Berlin wall (above). And sweet rain boots to walk through slushy snow ;) To shop online: visit the dedicate website. Gosh, I am going to need a new closet... This launch could take place nowhere other than our Colette store in Paris. Here's the word from their newsletter: " Keith Haring , both artist and activist, has a habit of using his art to serve important social causes, supporting research and c...

My vice is FICE

Image
Here's a report straight from Salt Lake City's art, fashion & lifestyle shop owned by Laura Hadar, called FICE. The boutique opened April 2008 and is one of SLC's sweetest shop-stops. Today, if you are not living in or cruising through one this major hub of the US snowboard scene, well, there are good news my friend: FICE is now online. Check out their website . I love going to boutiques. I love going to snowboard shops. When I get the opportunity to go to a snowboard lifestyle boutique in my neighborhood, it's pretty much the best thing ever. FICE has done a great job in a cool building in downtown SLC (It used to be a bike shop.) Being owned by Laura Hadar, it lends an instant "core" vibe, and she's definitely taken what she knows about snowboard-skate streetwear, and with her partner in crime Corey have stocked the store with plenty of hard to find goodies. Here are some hoodie goodies. Sorry for the phone pics, but that's what a trendspotter h...

Exclusive Premiere ~ RDV @ Colette

Image
In Paris this mid-January? Then you can be amongst the few lucky ones who will enjoy an exclusive preview of the long awaited Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals collaboration . Visit Colette in Paris! The L.A. based designer is officially launching his line of Adidas Originals this February. I have been drooling over photographs in the meantime. Jeremy infused some of his hoodies and kicks with animal prints. He goes beyond the print with this hoodie in particular! You literally feel like you're wearing (and becoming) a leopard. Animal Prints--Why They Keep Coming Back: “Animal prints play off the idea of women being vixenish, wild, and fierce,” says Valerie Steele of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. So it’s no surprise that fashionistas have been spotted in the prints since the cave-dwelling days — though the trend is most strongly identified with the 50s and 60s, when it was favored by sultry pinup girls, like Bettie Page and Ann-Margret. Image
How beautiful a snowflake can be... Freeze it forever in timeless sparkle of Tiffany & Co. Jewelry. This silver pendant is exclusively available at Colette in Paris, and for online orders ... well, I hope you have a French address to have it delivered to! "He held up his hand, rubbing the ball of the thumb over the calloused palm and gazing at the dirt that was ingrained in the flesh itself and which no brush could scrub away. How different was her palm! He thrilled deliciously at the remembrance. Like a rose-petal, he thought; cool and soft as a snowflake. He had never thought that a mere woman's hand could be so sweetly soft. He caught himself imagining the wonder of a caress from such a hand, and flushed guiltily." -Martin Elden, by Jack Johnson Oh, and if you haven't noticed... cupcakes have been THE thing in all things food & fashion for more than a year and Tiffany is offering you--cupcake luvRs--a sweet pendant . What's more, if you like tempo, e...

New Year's in Paris ~ Fashion Capital

What better way for Mode Snow to bring you the latest fashion news than by traveling to Paris to spot what's in the streets and in stores?! Yes, that's why I was offline over the New Year and only get to wish you happy 2009 today! I'd like to kick off the year by listing a couple of posts from '08 that feature the goods that were so hot in Paris: 1. Fur Hats ! For him and her, they all love it. 2. Droopy Beanies -- and as mentioned in that post, I owe the Goorin Brothers beanie, and got so many compliments from random strangers! 3. New Uggs -- funny enough, it was UK, USA and Australian tourists who were rocking these big time! I totally spotted the camo print on several occasions. 4. Spy Goggle - spotted these in the hottest sun glasses stores and the some of the sickest street fashion and second hand/thrift stores (so hip in Paris by the way) many of them being located around Etienne Marcel (awesome shopping area in central Paris). More to come on "Paris kno...

Earthy Look

Image
From our visit to Mountain Riders shop in Stratton, VT, we brought you back the best from their bindings wall. Here featured is Rome's Strut Binding . We love the details on this piece! The cork looking pattern on the high back and straps and the soft green wool-like material featured here and there (as I am pointing at it) give the Rome Strut in Tan a fun earthy feel to the look of this binding. A nice contrast to the wild patterns and electric fluo colors we have been featuring in recent posts. From a tech perspective, the Strut delivers large dose of performance-enhancing features and comfort. Designed for women, the highback is anatomically contoured and offers calf relief on the medial side. Yes! Mode Snow spots stylish goods, but only features what worth putting on your x-mas wish list: quality, and style. ~Mayta

Wild Bindings

Image
When paying a visit to Stratton's Mountain Riders shop (Vermont), we spent the time these bindings deserved checking them out. Burton's Escapades, my all time favs, look SO HOT this year! I am all about animal prints, and these seem to always be IN. So here is my pick: Burton Escapade in Teal Zebra . Burton Escapade in Teal Zebra . It is not just about a face lift, it's about continuous improvement. The Burton Escapade is the ultimate women's binding. It has been so since the introduction of canted hi-backs, which are designed for the comfort of women's calves. The gel heel cushioning adds extra comfort to Burton's Women’s-Specific True Fit™ Design. Light-weight thanks to its 50:50 Carbon Fiber/Nylon Composite; and stay locked in thanks to the toe, or cap, strap--one of the best inventions since the intro of hi-backs. The Escapades are also available in White/Gold (bling bling!) and Matte Black. Now, for "The Look" let's pair it up with some boot...

Mountain Riders Shop ~ DC Zephyr Pants

Image
Mode Snow's features include shopping sessions at "featured shops" where we try the goods on for you. For our first "featured shop" post, we made a visit to Stratton's Mountain Riders Shop in Vermont, USA. Wild prints are the flavor of the season as well as fluo colors. Based on this trend, our eyes immediately landed on DC's Zephyr pants in Raspberry Plaid . What can I say, the baggy cut, suspenders, loud colors and plaid prints were just the combo we needed to call it a hot topic! The mega flare of these pants can be reduced by zipping up the bottom of the pants. I love this feature when off the slopes; it prevents dragging your pants in the mud and from ripping them apart. But when on the snow, the extra flare is what it's all about. Even sweeter, DC included their "shant control" feature. Basically, you can pull on a cord located in your pocket to pull up and keep up the bottom back part of your pants! So no more dreading the muddy pa...
